Host Ariana Evans and guest Julie Kaalberg talk about how Julie went from a job in genetic testing to a career in sewing and designing her own line of garments for SewPOP, a popup fundraiser for the Sewing Training Academy.
Sewing Training Academy, a program of Catholic Charities of Tennessee, is where people in Nashville learn to sew for commercial purposes, specifically enabling members of the refugee population of Nashville to receive accreditation for the skills they may already have or to learn a new skill that will take them into a career. STA is hosting SewPOP, a pop-up vender event created to showcase student talent and provide funding for the Academy.
SewPOP will feature 12 new student vendors and 13 existing businesses selling their uniquely Nashville wares. It will showcase highly curated and original items made by students of STA. 30% of all sales will benefit the STA’s future training programs.
SewPOP's public event is happening in Nashville at Imogen + Willie on Saturday, September 7th from 10am - 4pm. The address for Imogen + Willie is 2601 12th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37204 The event is free for children with a suggested donation of $5 for adults.
