Shani Dowell - Turning Gossip into Possip (positive gossip!)
Shani Dowell talks about life and the way she turned parent gossip about schools and teachers into a positive tool to build relationships between parents, teachers and administrators. Possip = Positive Gossip!
Shani's Bio: "Shani Dowell is the Founder of Possip. Shani’s multiple roles as a mother of school-aged children, spouse of a leader of schools, and leader in educational organizations led her to see the need for a tool to improve the conversation between parents and schools – and to create Possip.
Shani attended public schools in Houston, Texas and is a graduate of Howard University. She holds an M.B.A. from Stanford University and started her career at Bain and Company before joining The Posse Foundation in Boston. After Stanford Shani worked on education cases for the Bridgespan Group and worked at the KIPP charter network supporting school launches. Through this work Shani became inspired to become a teacher herself and taught middle schoolers in HISD (Houston Independent School District), the same district she attended as a student. Shani has led teacher recruitment at Teach For America and Relay Graduate School of Education.
Shani lives in East Nashville with her husband and two kids."
